I don't remember whether it was myself or my children that felt obliged to make this obvious joke when the 988 number was published, but obligated we were, and make the joke one of us did. As with most obvious jokes, it was and remains stupid, but this moment of having to make it, and then navigate through the inevitable aftermath, is a familiar process. This feels like a common neurodiverse experience.
